SuddenRush Banked Slalom Laax 2023: Registration is open!

Read our Pleasure Recap of last year’s Banked Slalom Laax right here.

The 8th Suddenrush Banked Slalom LAAX will take place from 3-5 March 2023 in LAAX, Switzerland. The "Banked" is a snowboard race against time. On the one hand, the statement seems unusual for the world’s leading freestyle resort, as the many snow parks in the area of Flims-Laax-Falera invite you to jib and trick with style and without speed requirements. On the other, it is the most natural thing in the world, as it comes from "banked", the steep turn! And this was all back in the days when snowboards didn't have edges and uneven terrain was used to gain momentum and go downhill. Whoever did this best had oodles of fun and was already at the top back then! Banked is therefore considered the most original snowboard discipline. The run on the "banked races" resurfaced a few years ago and has been attracting hundreds to the Crap Sogn Gion above LAAX since 2015. With a good mood, a waxed board and a hefty dose of stamina, it’s fast and it’s furious. Live life a quarter mile at a time as the fastest rider through the winding course wins!

350 starting places are available for snowboarders of all ages and genders who want to race, as there are classifications in many categories. From junior to pro, to senior - aptly named "masters" at Banked. Among these are illustrious Olympian names as well as those of recreational athletes, with the strongest category being the open one for all 18-39 year olds. The coolest are the kids, who race downhill in three age groups, each for girls and boys.

Registration for the Suddenrush Banked Slalom LAAX 2023 is now open online. Further information about the event is available on laax.com/suddenrush.
