Soy Sauce Nation’s Stir Fry

Soy Sauce Nation Stir-Fry is more than just a snowboarding event – it is a vibrant celebration of diversity, community, and inclusivity. This gathering serves a larger mission to provide a platform for underrepresented individuals and groups within the snowboarding populace. Through a blend of media representation, event curation, and strategic partnerships with brands that are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Stir-Fry’s goal is to foster a sense of belonging. The event transcends the slopes, forging connections, celebrating differences, and ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, can go snowboarding without boundaries.

WE ARE BACK FOR OUR FIFTH EVENT

Join us at Soy Sauce Nation's STIR-FRY at Woodward Tahoe | Boreal Mountain Resort on March 27-29, 2024. This AAPI-focused snowboard event welcomes everyone, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, for a unique experience. Come ride a custom park built by Woodward, and savor food, prizes, art, and the gathering of Pros, Flows, Industry Heads, Friends, and Families. This event is a space to not only celebrate who we are, but recognizing where we come from and all the diversity of nationalities and backgrounds in the snowboarding community.

Who: Soy Sauce Nation

What: Stir Fry

Where: Woodward Tahoe | Boreal Resort, California

When: March 27-29, 2024

How: Stir-Fry is presented by Kikkoman, with support from Burton, Skullcandy, Subaru and Crab Grab

Why: We are Changing the Narrative

The first two days riding on the custom built park are dedicated to an RSVP attendance. This includes up-and-coming athletes, established pros, industry folk, and people who have watched Soy Sauce Nation develop into what it is today. What makes these few days special is that we provide a safe space for people to be authentically themselves, to celebrate those differences, and to snowboard together. No longer the “only one”, Stir-Fry brings people together to feel at home on the mountain. There are world class photographers and videographers that capture the moments of all – from rising talent to the greater sessions where the community pushes each other to try new things.

The third day is Community Day where the custom park is open for all and it gives everyone an opportunity to snowboard and to meet new people. As Community Day evolves this year we are taking Community Day to another level with apres KARAOKE. After a full day of riding, Burton Snowboard demos, and making friends we will raffle and karaoke the evening on the third floor of the main lodge at Boreal. Tickets are also available for $39.00 - Community Day Prices. Items like Burton pow surf boards, Yeti coolers, Skullcandy Headphones, Soy Sauce Nation genuine merchandise and much much more are available to win.

SHHHH! It’s official. Japanese professional skateboarder Yuto Horigome debuted as the Olympic gold medalist in the men’s street event at the 2020 Summer Olympics and will be joining Soy Sauce Nation for Community Day March 29th, 2024.

COMMUNITY SUPPORTING COMMUNITY
Building upon previous year’s events, there will be a new addition of a photo show. This show will feature photographers from the community and have their work displayed during the entire event for all to enjoy! The work displayed will be for sale and all proceeds will go towards the Won for All Scholarship Fund formerly the Soy Sauce Nation Scholarship. This year we will be able to support 2 members of the community to fully sponsor to get out to the STIR-FRY event with the support from Subaru. We cover all their costs including travel, room, and board. Last year’s recipient was Russel Lee. Russel was involved in a work accident where he fell from over 40 feet to the ground. Doctors told him he may never walk again. Fast forward to the first day of STIR-FRY 2023, we got him out to the event and was able to snowboard. At that moment, although his body had changed from the accident, his spirit as a snowboarder was more alive than ever.

We are dedicating our scholarship fund to Won Suh, a member of the community that passed away last year following a mountain biking accident. To the industry he was a well known colleague and Evo Senior Buyer, but to us he was someone who always helped everyone around him - whether it was kind advice or a couch to sleep on. He will always be remembered and a cherished friend.
