elooa Splitboard Re-Opening Camp by K2 Snowboarding

Last weekend our Splitboard Re-Opening Camp presented by K2 in Kaunertal, which was postponed due to the December lockdown, could finally take place!

The camp is aimed at anyone who is interested and has always wanted to try out a splitboard on easy tours and under expert guidance. Equipped with the brand new K2 X elooa Limited Edition splitboard Marauder and the K2 Freeloader as well as avalanche safety equipment from BCA, the participants were familiarized with all the basic techniques by experienced splitboard professionals and accompanied by certified snowboard guides on their first tours.

It all started on Friday evening with check-in and a small splitboard workshop. All components were explained in detail here and then assembled under supervision. On Saturday morning, there was practical instruction on skins, crampons, sticks, avalanche transceiver and of course all walking and ascent techniques. Afterwards a splitboard tour started in bright sunny spring weather in a great environment up to almost 2500m. Overjoyed, all the beginners reached the day's goal and then shredded through untracked terrain and with smiling faces between trees and alpine huts back into the valley. A visit to the sauna and a 3-course evening meal rounded off the day. On Sunday, because of sore muscles, we went comfortably in about two hours to a serviced mountain hut with a fantastic view. After a strengthening lunch, there was a basic introduction to avalanche transceiver equipment and the search. The subsequent descent through slushy spring snow brought a smile to the faces of all participants and created anticipation for further splitboard camps, before it was unanimously said: "Thank you elooa for the great camp and Servus until next time!"

Another absolutely unforgettable weekend came to an end and we are already looking forward to the next elooa Splitboard Camps presented by K2 - maybe also with you!
