elooa Splitboard Basics Camp by K2 Snowboarding

After a very long forced break, our long-awaited elooa SPLITBOARD BASICS CAMP presented by K2 took place last weekend in the Allgäu. In good conditions with lots of sunshine, all splitboard newcomers were able to learn a lot of new things and gain experience on easy tours!

The camp in the region Allgäu was addressed to all interested shredders who have always wanted to try a Splitboard on simple routes and under expert guidance. Equipped with brand new K2 Splitboards and avalanche safety equipment from BCA, the participants were familiarized by experienced Splitboard professionals with all the basic techniques and accompanied by certified mountain guides on their first tours.

Before we could start, a lot of organizational skill was required in order to organize an experience that was as safe as possible for all participants in times of a pandemic. That's why on Friday evening we went to a cool accommodation in Oberstaufen and after a 2G+ check-in we started with a splitboard workshop. Here all splitboard components were explained in detail and the test material was assembled before a delicious burger meal followed. On Saturday morning everyone started their first splitboard tour in bright sunshine up the Nagelfluhkette. Meanwhile, there was practical instruction on the subject of skins, crampons, poles and of course all walking and climbing techniques. This was followed by an extensive avalanche transceiver training with a tracker, shovel and probe, before heading back down with the last warming sun-rays and smiling faces through fine powder from the Eineguntkopf to the valley. Dinner with delicious traditional Käsespätzle and salad awaited there before everyone fell into their beds, visibly exhausted. On Sunday followed another tour through rustic forests with old trees up to the Seelekopf, where the various climbing techniques were practiced again. After a great summit panorama, an unforgettable descent through great terrain back into the valley ended the day.

A very instructive splitboard weekend came to an end and we are already looking forward to the next elooa Splitboard Camps - hopefully also with you!
